GCC renewable energy market grows 9-fold

The GCC’s renewable energy market, which grew nine-fold to $11 billion from 2008 to 2016, is set to grow exponentially in the next few years, two key forums at the the World Future Energy Summit (WFES) in Abu Dhabi heard.

The Energy Expo & Forum and the Solar Expo & Forum are running from January 13 to 16 at the WEFS.

“As the GCC pioneers renewable energy, the Energy Expo & Forum and Solar Expo & Forum sees the latest innovations and industry experts address the challenges and opportunities in key topics such as grid stability, clean energy, and emerging technologies,” said Grant Tuchten, Group Event Director, World Future Energy Summit.

“We have very good representation from key stakeholders across the value chain – government project owners, consultants, financiers, developers, researchers, engineers and technology providers making the most of the opportunities to share knowledge, discover innovation and do business at Middle East’s largest future energy and sustainability event.”

Taking Abu Dhabi’s government-led renewable energy initiatives to a global level, exhibitors and speakers include the Abu Dhabi Department of Energy; the Abu Dhabi Power Corporation and its subsidiaries the Emirates Water and Electricity Company (EWEC), Abu Dhabi Distribution Company (ADDC), and TRANSCO; and Masdar showcasing their latest projects and innovations.
